Davao: The Aboitiz Foundation, in collaboration with Davao Light and Power Company Inc. (DLPC), and the University of the Philippines Mindanao (UP-Min), formally welcomed 12 new scholars under the Aboitiz Future Leaders Scholarship Program on Monday. This milestone marks the program's expansion into Mindanao, with each scholar set to receive PHP10,000 per month in educational support until they complete their college degrees.

According to Philippines News Agency, DLPC president and chief operations officer Engr. Enriczar Tia emphasized that the scholarship goes beyond financial aid. He stated that supporting education is about shaping leaders who will positively impact their communities, their fields, and the future of the country. Tia highlighted that scholars would benefit from mentorship, practical experiences, and guidance tailored to develop their talents, values, and sense of responsibility.

UP-Min Chancellor Lyre Anni Murao expressed gratitude for the partnership, highlighting the scholars' perseverance and commitment to making a difference. She noted that the chosen scholars were selected not only for their academic accomplishments but also for demonstrating character, perseverance, and a desire to make a difference.

One of the recipients, Liarrah Daniya Lambayao, a BS Computer Science student, shared her gratitude for the opportunity. She expressed her appreciation for the support, noting that it allows her to continue her studies and achieve her potential.

For over two decades, the Aboitiz Future Leaders Scholarship Program has supported students nationwide, aiming to develop purpose-driven leaders who embody integrity, resilience, and service to the community.
