Bago city: A total of 84 families in Bago City, Negros Occidental, severely affected by Typhoon Tino, have received shelter recovery assistance from national government agencies.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Office of Civil Defense-Negros Island Region (OCD-NIR) provided family tents and shelter repair kits, while the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development distributed shelter-grade tarpaulins. The 84 beneficiaries are among those whose homes suffered extensive damage or were completely washed away during the typhoon. The assistance was delivered during a ceremonial turnover on December 11, with the presence of OCD-NIR Regional Director Donato Sermeno III, Mayor Marina Javellana-Yao, and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head Dr. Merijene Ortizo.

The OCD-NIR emphasized that these provisions aim to offer immediate relief to the affected families and assist them in restoring safe and functional living spaces. The initiative underscores the ongoing commitment of the government and its partners to support the communities of Bago City in their recovery journey. Earlier in the month, OCD-NIR also provided vital shelter and relief supplies to families in Moises Padilla town, which included 70 shelter repair kits, 50 shelter-grade tarpaulins, 50 solar lamps, and 30 camping tents.

In addition to providing shelter, the OCD-NIR contributed to the clearing operations by supplying 14,533 liters of fuel to affected local government units. The fuel was distributed among the cities of Bago, La Carlota, and Canlaon, as well as the municipalities of Binalbagan, La Castellana, and Isabela. The OCD-NIR reiterated their commitment to addressing urgent recovery needs through coordinated efforts, focusing on immediate relief and longer-term rehabilitation.
