Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) is anticipated to be 'more intense,' as stated by Malaca±ang. This comes in response to the domestic and global challenges that the Philippines has faced over the past year.

According to Philippines News Agency, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro highlighted that President Marcos is set to introduce new programs and legislative priorities aimed at aiding Filipinos in their recovery from significant challenges, including recent natural disasters and tensions in the Middle East. Castro emphasized that the country has been through trying times, with earthquakes, typhoons, and the Middle East crisis being unprecedented challenges compared to the previous year.

Castro remarked that as the SONA marks its fifth iteration, numerous accomplishments and emerging problems have shaped the landscape, making this year's address potentially more intense. She noted that Marcos is not only gearing up for his annual report but is also preparing for the future in line with his administration's development agenda.

The President's address is expected to unveil various programs targeting support for Filipinos dealing with Middle East tensions and other domestic issues. Castro assured that the SONA would reflect on what the administration has achieved and highlight future beneficial programs and legislative proposals.

When asked about the possibility of the President mentioning individuals facing imprisonment over alleged corruption, Castro suggested waiting for the address. She also stated she was unsure if the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte would be discussed.

Marcos' fifth SONA is scheduled to take place at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City at 4 p.m. on Monday and is expected to last about an hour and 20 minutes.
