PSA Maintains National ID Services in Central Visayas as Target Nears Completion

Central Visayas: The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) continues to provide registration and printing services for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) in Central Visayas, approaching its target of 7.04 million registrants. An official confirmed the ongoing efforts despite the substantial progress made.

According to Philippines News Agency, PSA-Central Visayas Regional Director Ariel Florendo reported that as of October 31, 7,038,888 individuals have registered for the National ID, representing 99.97 percent of the target population. Florendo noted that walk-in registration remains available at designated centers across the region, with locations listed on the PhilSys website.

PSA-7 data indicates that Cebu province leads the registration numbers with 4,452,941 registrants. It is followed by Negros Oriental with 1,264,312, Bohol with 1,224,081, and Siquijor with 97,554. The agency has successfully delivered 4,501,124 National ID cards in the region, complemented by 2,445,624 paper-based National IDs.

To facilitate the registration process, registered individuals can generate their Digital National ID through the official PhilSys website. Additionally, the PSA has collaborated with various agencies and conducted mobile registrations to reach underserved communities, ensuring broader accessibility.

Florendo highlighted the significance of the National ID, stating it serves as a valid proof of identity for transactions in both government and private sectors, subject to authentication. The PSA also issued a warning against unauthorized printing or reproduction of PhilSys IDs, which is punishable under Section 19 of Republic Act No. 11055.
