Manila: State-run People's Television Network (PTV) brought home major honors at the 37th Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Television Sunday, with several of its officials and anchors recognized for their outstanding contributions to the broadcasting industry.

According to Philippines News Agency, PTV General Manager Malou Choa-Fagar received the prestigious Ading Fernando Lifetime Achievement Award for her exceptional leadership, dedication, and lasting impact on Philippine television production. 'One, you work hard. Second, don't give up. Third, kapalan niyo ang mukha niyo, kahit ano pang ibabato sa inyo, saluhin ninyo ng maayos (be thick-skinned; whatever is thrown at you, catch it and handle it well),' she said in an interview. 'Prove to them that you are a better person than what they think. And of course, you do need to pray a lot every morning, surrender what is going to happen for the day,' she added.

Veteran broadcaster Angelique Lazo was honored with the Excellence in Broadcast Lifetime Achievement Award for her three decades of exemplary work in journalism. In her acceptance speech, Lazo dedicated the award to her colleagues at PTV News and Public Affairs. 'Yung mga kasama ko day in and day out, 'yung mga pumapasok kahit bumabagyo, 'yung mga di nakikita, 'yung mga behind the scenes, inaalay ko ang mga award na ito (I dedicate these awards to my colleagues who work day in and day out, those who still come to work even during storms, those who are unseen, those behind the scenes),' said Lazo, one of the anchors of PTV's flagship afternoon newscast 'Sentro Balita' and host of current affairs program 'In Person'.

Meanwhile, PTV News Tonight anchor William Thio received the Boses ng Bayan Award, while Joee Guillas, who is now an Undersecretary of the Office Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs, was named Best Male Newscaster.
