Konektadong Pinoy Act to Enhance Digital Connectivity Across Philippines

Manila: The Konektadong Pinoy Act is set to bridge the digital divide and advance digital transformation as outlined in the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028, announced the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev).

According to Philippines News Agency, the DEPDev emphasized that reliable and affordable internet access will enable students, particularly those in remote areas, to access online learning resources. The act will also empower micro, small, and medium enterprises to reach wider markets and allow clinics to provide telehealth services to individuals unable to travel to regional centers.

The legislation aims to support farmers and fisherfolk by providing timely market and weather information, aiding in effective crop management. It also simplifies and reduces the cost of accessing government services for citizens.

The Konektadong Pinoy Act introduces more market competition, encourages infrastructure sharing for a faster rollout, and ensures efficient use of the radio frequency spectrum. These reforms are expected to expand coverage, increase internet speeds, and reduce costs, thereby enhancing digitalization as a key driver of productivity and inclusive growth.

Improved digital infrastructure is also anticipated to boost resilience during disasters by keeping households, workplaces, and public services connected. Secretary Arsenio Balisacan noted, "This is a future where no Filipino is left behind and accessible digital opportunities uplift every individual, home, livelihood, and community."
