Cebu: Kim Andrew Remolino successfully defended his men's elite title at the National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) held at Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Zambales. The University of San Carlos sophomore, majoring in marketing, completed the sprint race in 56 minutes and 17 seconds. The race covered a 750-meter swim, an 18-kilometer bike ride, and a 5-kilometer run, with the bike stage shortened due to road repairs.
According to Philippines News Agency, Matthew Justine Hermosa, also hailing from Cebu, secured second place with a time of 56:21, while Dayshaun Karl Ramos, the junior elite champion from the previous year, finished third in 56:44. Remolino expressed satisfaction with his performance, stating, "I came here prepared and I'm happy with the result." Both Remolino and Hermosa are set to compete in the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) regional qualifiers on March 13 and 14 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
In the women's elite category, Dhana Victoria Seda-Lomboy, the 2025 junior elite women's champion, claimed the title by clocking 1:07:49, surpassing Lady Samantha Jhunace Corpuz, who finished in 1:08:42. In the junior elite category, Darell Johnson Bada and Anisha Eunice Caluya dominated their respective divisions. Bada, a 17-year-old Grade 12 student from Subic Colleges in Olongapo City, clinched the gold with a time of 56:57, improving from his silver medal finish last year.
Euan Arrow Ramos claimed the silver medal with a time of 58:57, while Peter Sacho Del Rosario secured the bronze in 59:12. Bada, reflecting on his performance, stated, "I always give my best in every race." He added that his experience and strategy enabled him to improve from being in the second pack last year to winning the title this year.
In the women's junior elite division, Anisha Eunice Caluya finished first in 1:07:09, followed by Christy Ann Perez in 1:07:56, and Aira Danara Gregorio in 1:08:38. The event, part of Triathlon Philippines' grassroots and talent identification program, received support from the Philippine Sports Commission and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Tourism.
