Remulla: Task Force Underway on Dela Rosa’s ICC ‘Arrest Warrant’

Manila: A task force is being organized in connection with an unverified report on a warrant of arrest allegedly issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Senator Ronald Dela Rosa, according to a statement by Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Saturday. 'We are forming it (task force). The unverified info just arrived this morning. It takes time to mobilize,' Remulla said in a message sent to reporters on Saturday, adding that the senator's location is in the Davao region.

According to Philippines News Agency, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez stated that they continue to coordinate closely with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and other concerned government agencies to ensure that all actions remain consistent with established legal and operational protocols. He noted that they act only upon lawful orders issued by competent authorities and in accordance with existing laws, rules, and procedures.

'Any appropriate police action, if and when necessary, shall be undertaken with full adherence to due process, the rule of law, and respect for human rights. The PNP assures the public that professionalism, prudence, maximum tolerance, and accountability shall guide all its actions at all times,' Nartatez said in a statement. He further urged the public to exercise discernment and to refrain from spreading unverified information circulating online, encouraging reliance only on official statements issued by authorized government agencies.

Nartatez affirmed the PNP's commitment to its mandate of upholding the rule of law, maintaining peace and order, and serving the Filipino people with integrity, professionalism, and impartiality. Meanwhile, it has been noted that Dela Rosa has not attended Senate sessions since Nov. 10, following reports of an alleged ICC arrest warrant against him.
