Resumption of Voters’ Registration to Push Through in August Despite Weather Challenges

Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) confirmed on Monday that the nationwide resumption of voters' registration will proceed from August 1 to 10. This decision comes despite the recent damage caused by severe weather conditions.

According to Philippines News Agency, several regions experienced torrential rains and flooding due to tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong, alongside the southwest monsoon. Nevertheless, Comelec Chairperson George Garcia assured that voter registration activities will continue as scheduled, including during weekends.

Garcia emphasized that there will be no delays in the registration process. He confirmed in an interview that local Comelec offices remained unaffected by the adverse weather conditions. Applications can be submitted at all Offices of Election Officer and designated satellite registration sites.

The services provided by the Comelec during this period include change of name and status, correction of entries, reactivation, inclusion of registration records, and reinstatement.
