Manila: The iconic Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (RMSC) in Manila, under the auspices of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), is set to host the International Sports Facilities Management Conference and Tradeshow at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum from May 28 to 31.
According to Philippines News Agency, the conference, with the theme 'Elevating Sports Excellence through Sustainable and Safe World-Class Facilities,' will focus on progressive strategies for developing sports facilities. The PSC aims to enhance sports infrastructure by bringing together experts from various sectors. Representatives from local government units will participate in a walk-through of the complex to observe recent development efforts at the venues.
Leading the conference is Taras Mukovoz, a venue expert from the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). Mukovoz will discuss venue management for large-scale sporting events and share insights on best practices for management and operations. The PSC has also invited experts from private entities to discuss technology, innovation, and sustainability in sports facility management.
The national government supports the conference, which will feature speakers from the Department of Energy, Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Environmental Management Bureau, and Office of Civil Defense - National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. The PSC is actively working on infrastructure projects, including retrofitting the RMSC Baseball Stadium and upgrading facilities such as the Sports Museum and dormitories. Recently, the RMSC Football Field received FIFA Quality Pro certification. Senators Christopher Go and Pia Cayetano, who have been instrumental in supporting Filipino athletes and officials, are also backing the event.
