Search Ongoing for Missing Foreman After Landslide in Southern Leyte

San ricardo: Search is still ongoing for a construction site foreman who went missing following a landslide in San Ramon village in San Ricardo, Southern Leyte on Sunday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and responders from various agencies resumed search, rescue, retrieval, and clearing operations for the missing person early Monday. To aid in the operations, the OCD Eastern Visayas regional director, Lord Byron Torrecarion, mentioned the deployment of a ground-penetrating radar due to the decreasing likelihood of survival.

Authorities have identified the missing foreman as Dador Moscosa, 54, a resident of San Policarpo in Eastern Samar. Moscosa works for 888 ACY Construction and was in the area with other workers tasked with repairing a viaduct in San Ramon village.

The landslide, which occurred early Sunday, caused damage to two houses, a temporary shelter of workers, several motorcycles, a dump truck, and a cement mixer. Engaged in the search, rescue, and retrieval operations are personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Department of Public Works and Highways, Philippine Army, and local volunteers.

San Ricardo is one of the towns situated on Panaon Island in Southern Leyte, located 200 km south of Tacloban, the region's capital.
