Senior Government Executives Included in Comprehensive Performance Review – Bersamin

Manila: The ongoing "rigorous" performance review will also cover senior government officials, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin announced on Thursday. In a Palace press briefing, Bersamin stated that President Marcos has directed an evaluation of government performance not only at the Cabinet level but throughout the entire bureaucracy.

According to Philippines News Agency, the President aims to delve deeper into government agencies, systems, and the quality of public service being delivered on the ground. "The people expect results and the President has no patience for underperformance," Bersamin conveyed. He further indicated that senior officials will also be part of the continuing review.

As a part of this performance review, heads of government-owned and -controlled corporations have been directed to submit their courtesy resignations. Bersamin mentioned that President Marcos would not hesitate to make necessary changes to ensure the government continues to progress.

He commended those who have complied with Marcos' directive to resign from their posts, emphasizing efforts to recalibrate the government. Bersamin assured that a smooth transition would be in place to maintain continuity of services and stability in the government.

"Each resignation accepted is based on a careful assessment of whether the standards set by the President for efficiency and leadership have been met. Some have delivered, others have not," Bersamin commented. He clarified that this is not a purge but rather an effort reflecting the President's commitment to a government that operates efficiently, delivers results, and meets the expectations of the Filipino people.
