Manila: Signal No. 1 remains in effect across Northern Luzon as Tropical Depression Isang makes its way through Quirino province, as reported by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in its 5 p.m. bulletin on Friday.
According to Philippines News Agency, Isang was positioned near Aglipay town by 4 p.m., carrying maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near its center, with gusts reaching up to 90 kph. The areas under Signal No. 1 experiencing strong winds include Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Aurora, and parts of northern Nueva Ecija, specifically Lupao, Carranglan, Pantabangan, and San Jose City.
The southwest monsoon, enhanced by Isang, continues to bring strong to gale-force gusts to regions such as Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Burias Island, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Dinagat Islands, Southern Leyte, Surigao del Norte, and Camiguin. Additionally, rough seas are expected over the seaboards of Batanes and Cagayan.
PAGASA has advised mariners operating small seacraft and motorboats to avoid venturing into the sea due to the rough conditions. The weather bureau forecasts that Isang will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday.
