Manila: Striker Golike Doko displayed his brilliant form again Thursday, leading Adamson University to a 4-2 victory over University of the East in the UAAP Season 88 men's football tournament at the University of the Philippines football field. The Cameroonian also starred in the Falcons' 3-0 rout of the Red Warriors on Oct. 3, 2025.
According to Philippines News Agency, Doko converted a corner kick from Mark Ricario in the 39th minute for a 1-2 count after UE's Nicho Sumanoy scored in the 14th and 19th minutes. Ricario tied the score in the 59th minute with a free kick following a foul on Doko by UE's Keith Hermoso, who was shown a yellow card.
Doko completed his brace in the 69th minute as the Soaring Falcons grabbed the lead. Lloyd Tan added a late goal to seal the win. "I think we deserved the win," said Adamson head coach Darlton Digha. "We were really frustrated as a coaching staff in the first half, but the players recognized it and stepped up in the second half. Based on our last two weeks of training, I felt we really came back," he added.
Adamson stayed in sixth place with nine points, in a tie with De La Salle University, but with an inferior goal difference of -9. UE remained at the bottom with zero points and a goal difference of -21. Meanwhile, matches on Sunday will start at 2 p.m. with Adamson taking on UP. Ateneo de Manila University battles University of Santo Tomas at 4:30 p.m. while La Salle and Far Eastern University collide at 7 p.m.
