Antique: The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Antique is calling on local government units to operationalize their training centers. TESDA-Antique Director Rick Abraham highlighted the need for functional centers, noting that although each of the 18 towns in the province has a center, only the one in Hamtic is currently operational.

According to Philippines News Agency, the training centers were handed over to local government units with the understanding that they could best identify and address in-demand skills in their respective areas. Director Abraham suggested that LGUs either seek out TESDA-accredited trainers or establish partnerships with private Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) that offer registered programs. He pointed to Hamtic as a successful example, where a partnership with a TVI has facilitated ongoing skills training.

Abraham also emphasized that TESDA provides several scholarship opportunities. However, before training centers can fully benefit, they must ensure their trainers, curriculums, and facilities comply with the Unified Technical and Vocational Education Training Program Registration and Accreditation System (UTPRAS), which is TESDA's mandatory quality assurance mechanism. He concluded by encouraging LGUs to capitalize on the existing infrastructure of training centers, emphasizing the advantage they have with these resources already in place.
