Manila: Three weather systems are set to bring rains across various parts of the Philippines on Tuesday, as reported by the national weather bureau. In its early morning bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) highlighted that the northeasterly surface wind flow will lead to rainfall in Batanes, while the shear line is expected to cause scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Babuyan Islands. Additionally, Caraga and Northern Mindanao are anticipated to experience scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the influence of the easterlies. According to Philippines News Agency, PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rains in these areas could potentially result in flash floods or landslides. Isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, also driven by the easterlies, are expected to affect regions such as Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and Davao. The possibility of severe thunderstorms raises concerns of flash floods or landslides in these areas as well. In other parts of the country, isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms are expected. Meanwhile, areas in extreme northern Luzon will face strong to gale-force winds and rough to very rough seas. Central Luzon and the remaining parts of northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds along with moderate to rough seas. Elsewhere, light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas are forecasted. In a briefing conducted by the Office of Civil Defense on Monday, Juanito Galang, PAGASA's weather division chief, assured that no storms are expected until next week. He noted that the country recently experienced four tropical cyclones, a scenario that also occurred four years ago and could be linked to the La Niña phenomenon. "So I think you can call it unusual, but it has already happened before," Galang stated.
