Tingog’s Yedda Romualdez to Be Proclaimed 3rd Nominee by Comelec

Manila: Yedda Marie Romualdez, the wife of Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez, is set to be proclaimed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as the latest member of the House of Representatives. The declaration follows the Comelec en banc's decision to adopt the recommendations of the Law Department regarding the new list of nominees of the Tingog Sinirangan (TINGOG) Party-List, as indicated in Minute Resolution No. 25-0831 released on July 16.

According to Philippines News Agency, Romualdez has been designated as the third nominee of the TINGOG party-list, which secured three seats in the 20th Congress with 1,822,708 votes during the May 12, 2025 midterm elections. Her proclamation comes after the resignation of the group's third nominee Marie Josephine Calatrava, fourth nominee Alexis Yu, and fifth nominee Paul Muncada.

The Comelec stated that since the aforementioned nominees have resigned, Yedda Marie K. Romualdez, previously listed as the sixth nominee, is next in line to be certified as the qualified nominee. Once proclaimed, she will join her son, Representative Andrew Romualdez, who holds the first seat, and Representative Jude Acidre, who occupies the second seat.

Comelec Chairperson George Garcia has also informed the House of Representatives about Yedda Romualdez's upcoming proclamation as the party-list's nominee. He provided a letter to the Lower House, serving as an equivalent certification for taking necessary steps related to her representation in the House.

Furthermore, Yedda Romualdez has a history of legislative service, having previously served as the TINGOG Party-list representative from 2019 to 2025 and as the congresswoman of the 1st District of Leyte between 2016 and 2019.
