TUPAD Workers Aid in School Preparations Across San Remigio for Upcoming Classes

San Remigio: Workers tapped under the government's emergency employment program helped ensure that schools in the 45 barangays of San Remigio in Antique are ready for the June 16 start of classes. The Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced (TUPAD) workers of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) deployed over 2,000 recipients who trimmed tall grasses, planted vegetables on the school gardens, cleared canals, constructed pathways, and other works needed to beautify the schools.

According to Philippines News Agency, TUPAD workers also made pathway openings in the interior barangays of Panpanan I and Rizal, facilitating easier access for learners traveling to their schools from their homes via the habal-habal (motorcycle for hire). San Remigio Municipal Mayor Margarito Mission Jr. shared in an interview that TUPAD workers rendered a 10-day work period and will receive a daily wage of PHP513.

Mayor Mission further noted that the schools are now clean, with only minimal work remaining. Additionally, the Aningalan Integrated Farm School in Barangay Aningalan and Sumaray Integrated School in Barangay Sumaray will offer senior high school programs this school year, specifically in the Humanities and Social Sciences strand. This initiative ensures that learners can complete their secondary education within their local communities.
