Manila: More than 7,000 individuals in Iloilo, including informal settlers and low-income earners, are set to benefit from two new government housing projects under the Marcos administration's flagship Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) program. The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), in a news release, detailed the initiatives aimed at addressing the housing needs of Filipinos in the region.
According to Philippines News Agency, DHSUD officials led the concrete pouring ceremonies for the Iloilo Residences and Uswag 4PH Condominium Complex. Iloilo Residences will consist of two seven-story residential buildings, offering a total of 362 housing units. Meanwhile, the Uswag 4PH Condominium Complex will feature 13 10-story buildings, providing at least 1,677 condominium-type units to more than 5,000 working-class Ilonggos.
The DHSUD highlighted that Iloilo Residences is among the pilot rental housing projects under the Expanded 4PH, marking it as the first-ever rental housing scheme for the local government of Iloilo City. This initiative is part of a broader effort to provide various housing solutions tailored to meet the diverse needs of Filipinos.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling emphasized the importance of these projects as part of the agency and the Marcos administration's intensified push to address the different housing needs across the country. "Patuloy nating palalakasin ang Expanded 4PH sa buong bansa upang mas marami pang Pilipino ang magkaroon ng maayos, ligtas, at abot-kayang pabahay (We will continue strengthening the Expanded 4PH across the country so that more Filipinos can access decent, safe, and affordable housing)," Aliling stated.
He further added, "Ang bawat tahanang ating naitatayo ay hakbang tungo sa mas matatag na pamilya, mas matatag na komunidad, at mas magandang kinabukasan para sa lahat (Every home that we have built is a step towards a stable family, stronger communities, and a brighter future for all)." These sentiments underline the commitment of the DHSUD to foster community development and improve living standards through strategic housing initiatives.
