Typhoon Marce Intensifies as it Nears Northeastern Cagayan.

CAGAYAN: Typhoon Marce (international name Yinxing) has further intensified as it "dangerously approaches" northeastern Cagayan, according to the weather bureau's 11 a.m. bulletin on Thursday. The typhoon, with maximum sustained winds of 175 km per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 215 kph, was located 115 km east of Aparri, Cagayan as of 10 a.m. According to Philippines News Agency, more areas have been placed under tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) no. 4. These include the northern portion of Cagayan, such as Gonzaga, Santa Ana, and Santa Teresita, among others, including the Babuyan Islands. The northern portions of Apayao and Ilocos Norte are also under TCWS no. 4. These regions are expected to experience typhoon-force winds as the storm progresses. TCWS no. 3 remains in effect over Batanes, the rest of Cagayan, and parts of Apayao and Ilocos Norte. Additionally, the northern portions of Abra and Ilocos Sur will experience storm-force winds under this warning. Areas under TCWS no. 2, i ncluding parts of Isabela and Kalinga, will face gale-force winds, while TCWS no. 1 regions will encounter strong winds. Intense to torrential rains are anticipated in Cagayan and Apayao, with heavy to intense rainfall expected in Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Isabela, and Abra. Moderate to heavy rains will affect La Union, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Benguet, and Ifugao. The risk of flooding and rain-induced landslides remains high, particularly in vulnerable areas. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned of potential life-threatening storm surges, with peak heights exceeding 3 meters, over the coastal localities of Batanes, Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, and other regions in Northern Luzon. Gale warnings persist over the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon, making sea travel hazardous for all vessels. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported flight cancellations due to Marce, affecting Tuguegarao and Basco airports. A ll flights to and from Palanan were canceled, with no scheduled flights to Isabela via Cauayan Airport. PAGASA continues to forecast that the typhoon will make landfall or pass close to Babuyan Islands and the northern parts of mainland Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and Apayao from Thursday afternoon until Friday.
