Cebu: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has dispatched emergency relief to communities affected by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake in Cebu.
According to Philippines News Agency, the urgent humanitarian response was organized through the UAE Aid Agency in coordination with relevant local authorities.
The assistance includes the delivery of relief supplies to support the Philippine government's efforts to mitigate the impact of the disaster. Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, chairperson of the UAE Aid Agency, emphasized the UAE's role in humanitarian relief, particularly in providing immediate assistance to those affected by natural disasters. He stated, 'The UAE is committed to providing essential needs such as food and emergency supplies during these difficult times.'
The UAE joins other foreign governments in delivering humanitarian aid following the devastating earthquake that resulted in 72 fatalities in Central Visayas. Previously, the Singaporean Red Cross and the Japanese government announced their support for urgent needs and transportation of relief items into Cebu.
