US TSA-Led Workshop Enhances Cybersecurity Knowledge for OTS Personnel

Makati City: Personnel of the Office for Transportation Security (OTS), along with various airport stakeholders, participated in a workshop led by the United States Transportation Security Administration (US TSA) to bolster their cybersecurity expertise.

According to Philippines News Agency, the workshop, which took place from June 16 to 20 in Makati City, included representatives from airlines and other government agencies. The event aimed to tackle the increasing cybersecurity challenges resulting from the swift digital transformation within the civil aviation industry.

OTS spokesperson Kim Marquez highlighted that cyberattacks targeting air traffic, passenger data, and airlines are specific threats to the aviation sector. Participants in the workshop learned how to identify cybersecurity risks specific to civil aviation, analyze cyberattacks, and implement effective defense and mitigation strategies.

The workshop also emphasized the importance of adhering to international cybersecurity standards and regulations. OTS administrator Arthur Bisnar noted that the initiative underscores the robust security partnership between the United States and the Philippines, emphasizing that cybersecurity is now a fundamental component of airport security and national resilience.
