Manila: The "adverse weather conditions" mostly in the Visayas and Mindanao has resulted in the disruption of 16 domestic flights, affecting 1,140 passengers, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported before noon Tuesday. CAAP stated that eight Cebgo flights, four Sunlight Air flights, and four PAL Express flights were canceled, impacting the travel plans of numerous passengers.
According to Philippines News Agency, passengers were advised to coordinate with the airlines for updated schedules, assistance, and rebooking. The weather bureau had earlier forecasted that most parts of the country would experience scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
The LPA has developed into a tropical depression as of 8 a.m., according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration. PAGASA forecaster Veronica Torres mentioned that the weather disturbance has a slim chance of entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
