Bataan: Solar panels and satellite internet have been installed at the Biaan Aeta Integrated School (BAIS) in Mariveles, Bataan as part of Aboitiz Foundation's Aurora PH program. The program, launched in 2024, aims to aid last-mile schools in empowering learners and educators. It has so far benefited more than 2,500 learners and educators in far-flung areas around the country.
According to Philippines News Agency, the units were installed with the help of AboitizPower's GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD), and in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd). DepEd Bataan Schools Division Superintendent Carolina Violeta formally accepted the equipment and underscored the importance of the partnership with the private sector to help ensure that students are given their needs to succeed.
In a statement Friday, Aboitiz Foundation said school personnel have been trained on how to operate and maintain the solar panels to ensure the sustainability of these systems. 'AuroraPH is more than just a project-it is a promise to illuminate pathways and unlock opportunities,' Aboitiz Foundation's Impact Lead for Education Jowelle Ann Cruz said.
