Batangas: The Port of Batangas has been acknowledged for its robust performance, achieving a significant surplus in revenue collection and implementing innovative practices.
According to Philippines News Agency, preliminary data indicates that the Port of Batangas generated approximately PHP22.21 billion in collections in March, surpassing its target of PHP19.16 billion. This resulted in a notable surplus of PHP3.05 billion for March alone. In the first quarter of 2026, the port also exceeded its revenue goal by collecting around PHP59.14 billion compared to the PHP58.75 billion target, yielding a surplus of PHP398 million.
BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno praised the port for its proactive and data-driven strategies. These include early coordination with shipping lines and importers, strict monitoring of valuation systems, and policy implementation that has significantly boosted revenue collection and minimized leakage. Nepomuceno emphasized the port's strong stakeholder engagement, including consultative meetings, recognition of top importers, and the promotion of compliance programs, which have enhanced trust and fortified partnerships with the private sector.
The Bureau of Customs also commended the port's commitment to modernization, utilizing real-time monitoring dashboards, mobile applications, and tracking systems to streamline operations and support data-driven decision-making. The port's adherence to international standards is evident through maintaining its ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification.
Furthermore, the Port of Batangas aligns its programs and operational priorities with Nepomuceno's IAM (Integrity, Accountability and Modernization) program. This alignment underscores the port's dedication to upholding ethical standards, enhancing transparency and accountability mechanisms, and advancing modernization initiatives.
