Calabarzon Inflation Eases to 6.3% in June 2026

Manila: Inflation in the Calabarzon Region eased to 6.3 percent in June 2026 from 6.8 percent in May, the regional office of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA IV-A) reported Wednesday. The rate remains higher than June 2025's 1.8 percent, while the year-to-date average for January to June 2026 stands at 4.9 percent.

According to Philippines News Agency, the slowdown was mainly driven by a slower rise in transport prices at 10.8 percent, followed by housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels at 9.7 percent, and food and non-alcoholic beverages at 3.4 percent. PSA IV-A Director Charito C. Armonia outlined these figures in the report.

Among food groups, faster price increases were observed in flour, bread, and other bakery products at 5.6 percent, and ready-made food and other food products at 3.9 percent. Vegetables, tubers, plantains, cooking bananas, and pulses saw a rise of 1.6 percent. Slower increases were recorded for rice at 11.1 percent, oils and fats at 8.8 percent, fish and seafood at 7.2 percent, fruits and nuts at 4.0 percent, corn at 1.8 percent, sugar and confectionery at 1.0 percent, and milk, dairy products, and eggs at 0.5 percent. Notably, meat prices posted a decline at -4.1 percent.

Inflation rates varied by area, with Rizal reporting 6.9 percent, Cavite at 6.2 percent, Quezon at 5.5 percent, Batangas at 3.8 percent, and Lucena City at 3.7 percent, all showing slower inflation in June compared to May. In contrast, Laguna recorded faster inflation at 8.0 percent.

The report also highlighted the purchasing power of the peso relative to 2018, which was estimated at PHP 0.74 in June 2026.
