Manila: The Department of Education (DepEd) has pledged to continue delivering quality service to the education sector across the Philippines. This commitment follows the recent survey results from Tangere, which revealed Education Secretary Sonny Angara's high satisfaction rating among the presidential Cabinet members.
According to Philippines News Agency, the survey, conducted from June 23 to 27 with 1,500 respondents, placed Secretary Angara second with a 46.3 percent satisfaction rate. This puts him just behind Secretary Rex Gatchalian of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, who topped the survey with a 48 percent satisfaction rate.
The DepEd expressed its gratitude for the positive feedback from the public regarding the administration's education services. The department attributed this achievement to the support from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the collective efforts of the government and community toward the education sector.
In response to the survey results, the agency reiterated its commitment to enhancing its services, aiming for continuous improvement in the Philippine education system. The DepEd acknowledged the dedication of teaching and non-teaching personnel, recognizing their role as foundational pillars for the youth's dreams.
Currently, the DepEd is composed of one million members, including educators, non-teaching staff, and school administrators, working as the frontliners of education.
In terms of infrastructure, the DepEd announced its collaboration with 168 partner local government units (LGUs) to expedite classroom construction through a nationwide localized classroom building program. Secretary Angara emphasized the importance of institutional oversight to maintain transparency and accountability in fiscal standards, ensuring the efficient and transparent construction of classrooms.
The 168 LGUs that have signed supplemental memoranda of agreement with the DepEd include 72 provinces, 73 cities, and 23 municipalities. Of these, 130 LGUs are currently in pre-procurement stages, preparing for activities such as pre-bidding, posting, and opening of bids for 358 schools. Additionally, three LGUs have progressed to the procurement award stage for 22 school sites.
