Easterlies Prompt Suspension of Classes, Work in Davao Region

Davao Region: Several towns and one province in the Davao Region suspended classes and work on Wednesday due to torrential rains brought by easterlies. In Davao Occidental, the provincial government ordered the suspension of classes and work in both private establishments and government offices, citing heavy rainfall risks. Government employees were directed to work from home.

According to Philippines News Agency, Davao Oriental also announced class and work suspensions in Mati City and San Isidro town in response to severe weather forecasts. In Davao del Norte, local governments of the Island Garden City of Samal, Panabo City, Asuncion, and San Isidro issued advisories suspending classes and work at all levels.

Meanwhile, in Davao de Oro, the following municipalities implemented suspensions: Montevista suspended classes at all levels; Compostela suspended classes and work at all levels; Monkayo suspended classes at all levels; New Bataan suspended classes at all levels; and Maco suspended classes only.

Authorities in the region advised residents to stay alert and monitor weather updates.
