Manila: The government is taking measures to ensure a stable water supply ahead of the dry season, with officials closely monitoring the situation, Malaca±ang said Thursday. In a press briefing, Presidential Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that while the water supply remains stable, the government is prepared to address potential shortages as the dry season approaches.
According to Philippines News Agency, Castro emphasized that the current water supply is still significant despite changes in weather conditions. She clarified that there has been no official declaration regarding the onset of El Ni±o, which had a significant impact on the country last year.
Castro reassured the public that there is no immediate cause for concern regarding El Ni±o. She mentioned that Filipinos are accustomed to hot weather, and the government is prepared to manage the dry season's effects effectively. "The government will not sleep over it. If ever there is water supply shortage, the government will immediately act on it," Castro asserted.
Addressing concerns about potential water rationing, Castro reassured the public that efforts would be made to avoid such situations. She reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring a stable water supply and emphasized the need for vigilance and preparedness during the dry season.
According to weather bureau PAGASA, the peak of the dry season will be experienced from end-March until April.
