Marcos Camp Visits Aim to Support Military Troops, Says Malaca±ang

Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s recent visits to military camps reflect his appreciation and support for government troops, Malaca±ang said Friday. In a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stressed that Marcos' visits are part of his duty as commander-in-chief and should not be questioned, regardless of current issues confronting him, including the military's alleged plan to withdraw support from his administration.

According to Philippines News Agency, Castro emphasized that as long as the President has time, these visits should not be questioned. "Visiting our uniformed personnel is appropriate as commander-in-chief," Castro stated. She clarified that the visits are not linked to any current issues, but are an obligation of the President.

Castro also addressed recent announcements about increasing the base pay and subsistence allowances of all military and uniformed personnel (MUP). She highlighted that these increases are intended to provide fair support considering the risks and sacrifices faced by the personnel in fulfilling their duties.

Despite criticisms regarding the timing of the base pay increase for MUP, Castro argued that the recognition of the military's role is not influenced by political noise or calls for a possible reset or ouster. "It is their right, and it is only proper to recognize their heroism. Negative commentaries will not stop the President from assisting our uniformed personnel," Castro asserted.

During his recent camp visits, President Marcos reiterated his commitment to continued support for the military, underscoring the administration's recognition of their contributions to the nation.
