Marcos Receives Proposed PHP7.2-T Budget for 2027

Manila: The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has submitted to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. the proposed PHP7.2-trillion National Expenditure Program (NEP) for fiscal year 2027, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Monday. Castro noted that DBM Secretary Kim de Leon presented the proposed spending program to Marcos during a meeting at Malaca±ang.

According to Philippines News Agency, the proposed budget is themed 'People-Centered Growth for an Inclusive and Resilient Future' and emphasizes priorities such as education, health, livelihood, national security, and community development. The budget aims to make the most of public funds by enhancing government services and broadening opportunities for Filipinos.

The NEP represents the executive branch's proposed spending plan, which will serve as the foundation for the General Appropriations Bill. This bill will be reviewed and eventually enacted into law by Congress. The DBM plans to formally submit the NEP to Congress on Tuesday, marking the next phase in the annual national budget process.
