Pasay city: The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Monday reported the recent interception of high-grade marijuana, or "kush," with an estimated value of PHP14.9 million at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay City.

According to Philippines News Agency, District Collector of NAIA, lawyer Yasmin Mapa, stated that the interdiction operation conducted on November 28 resulted in the seizure of a luggage containing 18 vacuum-sealed transparent pouches with approximately 9,940 grams of dried leaves suspected to be kush. The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and other partner agencies, in alignment with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to intensify the campaign against illicit drugs.

'We will remain steadfast and sustain our dedication in upholding our duty to secure the safety of the country's borders,' Mapa added.

Meanwhile, BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno reiterated his warning against individuals or groups who continue to engage in illegal activities. 'Those who seek to misuse our borders for illegal activities will be met with decisive action. Our duty stands clear, and that is to protect our people from the dangers of illegal drugs,' he said.
