Digos city: Authorities announced a PHP2 million bounty Wednesday (Nov. 26, 2025) for information leading to the arrest of gunmen and masterminds behind the killing of a Digos City village chair. Barangay Captain Oscar "Dodong" Bucol Jr. was shot multiple times during a Facebook Live broadcast from his Tres De Mayo residence Tuesday evening and declared dead on arrival at a local hospital.
According to Philippines News Agency, the bounty comprises PHP500,000 from the provincial government for the gunmen, another PHP500,000 for the masterminds, and PHP1 million from Vice President Sara Duterte. "We hope that those responsible will be arrested to stop this. Who will be next? We don't want a fearful Davao del Sur," Gov. Yvonne Cagas said during a press conference.
Police Regional Office-11 director Brig. Gen. Leon Victor Rosete announced during the press conference the relief of Digos City police chief Lt. Col. Peter Glenn Ipong, whom Bucol had mentioned in previous broadcasts, to ensure an impartial investigation. Rosete also ordered Ipong and 21 intelligence personnel of the Digos City Police Station to undergo a paraffin test.
A Special Investigation Task Group will lead the probe into the killing, to be led by Col. Leo Ajero, the director of the Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office.
