P21-M Equipment and Vehicle Allocation to Enhance Police Operations in Western Visayas

Iloilo City: The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) has distributed PHP21 million worth of information and communications technology (ICT) equipment and a patrol vehicle to various police units across the region, including those in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City. This distribution took place during a turnover ceremony held at the regional headquarters in Iloilo City.

According to Philippines News Agency, the ceremony was led by PRO-6 Deputy Regional Director for Operations, Col. Roland Bulalacao. The distribution included 23 desktop computers each for the Aklan, Antique, and Capiz Provincial Police Offices (PPOs), as well as the Bacolod City Police Office. The Iloilo and Negros Occidental PPOs received 55 units each, while 15 units were allocated to the Iloilo City Police Office. Additionally, the regional headquarters received one desktop computer, and all units, including the headquarters, were provided with one tablet each.

A new patrol vehicle was allocated to the Leganes Municipal Police Station under the Iloilo PPO. PRO-6 spokesperson Lt. Col. Arnel Solis stated that these resources are intended for operations, intelligence, and police community relations sections. He emphasized the importance of technology-oriented policing, noting that computers and tablets are essential for commanders to efficiently monitor data and reports from lower units.

In a message read by Bulalacao, PRO-6 director Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky expressed gratitude to the national headquarters for the logistics support, which is expected to enhance police performance. He highlighted that while personnel carriers and ICT equipment have a specific useful lifespan, proper maintenance can extend their utility. Brig. Gen. Wanky reminded the officers of the infrequency of receiving resources from the national allocation, urging them to value and utilize the equipment effectively to achieve better service goals.
