Palawan: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Friday rescued around 200 individuals in Palawan and evacuated 151 individuals in Negros Occidental due to heavy rains and flooding caused by Tropical Storm Crising.
According to Philippines News Agency, a situation report from the PCG detailed that 88 families, or approximately 200 individuals, were rescued in Barangay Sicsican in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, by the PCG District Palawan (CGDPAL). At around 08:25 a.m., a Quick Response Team (QRT) was deployed to the affected area, utilizing mobility assets to assist in the evacuation of stranded residents. This action was in compliance with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure the safety of Filipinos amid the heavy weather. All families were safely rescued by 11 a.m.
Meanwhile, the PCG District Southern Visayas (CGDSV) evacuated 151 residents affected by flooding in Ilog, Negros Occidental. The PCG, in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Ilog, facilitated the evacuation of families at Barangays 1 and 2. The CGDSV remains on heightened alert, with all deployable response groups on standby for further deployment.
In a 5 p.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned of stormy conditions over Northern Luzon as Crising nears northern Cagayan. Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 was issued for several regions, including Batanes, Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, and others, while TCWS No. 1 was raised over additional areas, including Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya.
