Manila: The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) is prepared to brief the Senate on its programs and policies, Malaca±ang announced on Friday. This statement follows a resolution filed by Senator Robinhood Padilla, seeking a Senate investigation into the PCO's alleged dissemination of unverified and misleading information that has reportedly led to public confusion.

According to Philippines News Agency, PCO acting Secretary Dave Gomez expressed the office's willingness to collaborate with the Senate if an inquiry into the agency's information dissemination practices is conducted. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro emphasized the PCO's readiness to cooperate fully, stating, "We welcome the filing of the resolution. Full cooperation ang PCO upang maliwanagan at matulungan ang Senado sa kanilang trabaho (The PCO will give its full cooperation to clarify matters and assist the Senate in its work)," she said, citing Gomez's statement.

Senator Padilla's resolution, filed on Thursday, highlights the increasing public concern over the PCO's communication methods, which he claims have contributed to confusion, misinformation, or misinterpretation regarding government actions and policies. He further alleged that the PCO's official communications have at times been delivered in a manner that is "combative, rhetorical, or lacking in data-based clarity," rather than being calm, fact-based, and oriented toward public service.

In response, Castro described Padilla's allegations as "disappointing," suggesting that the senator might not be fully aware of the PCO's communication strategies. "It's kind of disappointing because had he watched, viewed the press briefing in full, he would have observed and witnessed how we deal with the government programs and government projects for the people," she said.
