According to Philippines News Agency, BCDA president and CEO Joshua Bingcang announced during a Malaca±ang briefing that over 30 countries have shown interest in the project. These nations are currently reviewing the project’s intricacies, including legal frameworks and requirements. Bingcang emphasized that the project, backed by the national government and the President, will offer a framework that ensures regulatory compliance and meets environmental, social, and governance goals.

Bingcang highlighted the project’s commitment to environmental balance by designating approximately 40 percent of the manufacturing area as open spaces. The project is expected to significantly impact the labor sector, potentially creating between 130,000 to 190,000 jobs for local residents. While foreign workers will be involved, they will comprise only about 10 percent of the workforce, focusing on higher positions, thereby offering Filipinos enhanced employment opportunities domestically.

He also stated that feasibility studies on the project and proposed investments, including power generation facilities, are ongoing. Discussions regarding development contracts have begun, with studies on the area’s stability concerning natural disasters planned for the following year. Site development is anticipated to commence within two years of contract signing, which is expected this year.
