Pampanga: A police officer in Central Luzon is facing dismissal proceedings after he was arrested in an anti-drug operation in Pampanga on Tuesday. In a statement on Wednesday, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. announced the immediate fast-tracking of dismissal proceedings against the officer involved.
According to Philippines News Agency, the operation underscores the PNP's firm stance that no officer involved in illegal activities will receive protection from the organization. The officer, included in a watchlist, was apprehended during a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Jose in San Fernando City. The authorities reported that the suspect was found in possession of approximately 105 grams of suspected shabu, valued at around PHP714,000.
The Police Regional Office in Central Luzon (PRO-3) confirmed that both criminal and administrative charges are set to be filed against the officer. Gen. Nartatez has instructed the PRO-3 regional director to ensure the cases are filed promptly, with a strong emphasis on airtight cases supported by robust evidence and proper documentation to avoid any technical issues during the proceedings.
"I have directed the RD, PRO-3 to expedite dismissal proceedings against the personnel involved in illegal drug activities. We want a swift but fair administrative action, supported by solid evidence and due process," Nartatez stated. The PNP chief reaffirmed the organization's dedication to eliminating "ninja cops" and other corrupt personnel from its ranks.
