Manila: The Philippine National Police (PNP) has ordered a full assessment of all its facilities and equipment in Davao Oriental and nearby provinces following the twin quakes that rocked parts of Mindanao on Friday. The directive aims to ensure the readiness and safety of police infrastructure in the affected areas.
According to Philippines News Agency, PNP acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. instructed directors in the affected areas, particularly Police Regional Office-Davao Region and Police Regional Office-Caraga Region, to inspect all police stations, headquarters, and infrastructure for potential structural damage. This initiative is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.'s directive to mobilize resources quickly and ensure the safety, security, and operational readiness in quake-hit areas.
The findings from these inspections will be included in a report to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. Nartatez also mentioned the importance of verifying the condition of communication equipment, vehicles, and other operational assets that may have been impacted by the earthquake.
All police units in Mindanao remain on full alert to assist in rescue, relief, and security operations as they respond to the aftermath of the quakes.
