QC Government Opens Scholarship Applications for SY 2026-2027

Manila: The Quezon City Government has opened applications for its scholarship program for school year 2026-2027, inviting qualified residents to apply for financial assistance as the city pushes to expand access to education among young QCitizens. In a news release Thursday, QC Mayor Joy Belmonte said applications may be submitted from May 25 until June 5 through the QC eServices website.

According to Philippines News Agency, the city's continued investment in scholarships is intended to create opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. 'In QC, we believe that education remains the strongest tool we can give our youth to achieve their dreams. Through the Quezon City Scholarship Program, we are not only supporting them financially, we are also shaping the nation's future leaders and changemakers,' she said.

Eligible applicants must be QC residents, possess a QCitizen ID, and should not currently be receiving scholarships from other local government units. The city government stated that in 2025, the city had a total of 9,377 scholars, of which 93.84 percent were in college, 2.69 percent in vocational education, 2.64 percent in senior high school, and 0.83 percent in postgraduate programs.

Meanwhile, about 88.93 percent of low-income households and marginalized communities were among tertiary-level scholars. Data from the city government show that since 2019, the QCSP has supported 50,165 students, producing 15,108 college graduates now employed across sectors including education, engineering, healthcare, business, and information technology.

Belmonte said the scholarship program's expansion reflects the city government's commitment to making education more accessible. 'Every QC scholar represents a family given hope and a brighter future through education. As we continue expanding this program, we remain committed to ensuring that no deserving student is left behind because of financial limitations,' she said.

Belmonte earlier set a target of about 80,000 city scholars before the end of her third and final term. QC Youth Development Office head Eddilyn Dividina, meanwhile, said efforts are ongoing to bring scholarship opportunities closer to communities and schools. 'The Quezon City Scholarship Program remains committed to reaching more young QCitizens. We continue to go to the communities and schools to guarantee that students who need assistance are supported and given the opportunity to pursue their education,' she said.

Earlier, the city government launched applications for a new scholarship category, the Manuel L. Quezon Filipino Language and Literature Scholarship Program, which aims to support incoming college students, educators and researchers pursuing Filipino language, literature, and related fields.
