Camalig: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Bicol is extending support to the survivors and families impacted by a recent fatal collision involving a van and a truck in Camalig, Albay. The tragic road accident claimed the lives of 11 passengers, with only one survivor.

According to Philippines News Agency, DSWD Bicol Regional Director Norman Laurio is coordinating with relevant agencies and has dispatched Crisis Intervention Section teams to Albay and Iriga City. These teams are actively engaged in conducting home visits, performing hospital assessments, and maintaining continuous communication to aid families during the assistance process.

During a home visit in Ligao City, the team provided psychosocial first aid. Three families have received financial aid amounting to PHP10,000 and technical support for funeral services to assist with burial expenses. The truck driver and the passenger of the UV Express, who is the sole survivor among those on board, are currently receiving medical treatment at the Bicol Regional Hospital and Medical Center. Additionally, psychosocial and technical assistance are being provided to the grieving families in Nabua, Iriga, and Bula.

The accident resulted in the deaths of 11 passengers, including six from Nabua, one from Bula, one from Iriga, and three from Ligao. The ongoing efforts by DSWD aim to support the affected families as they navigate this difficult period.
