Manila: Malaca±ang has ordered the implementation of work-from-home (WFH) arrangements in government offices and alternative learning modes in schools in Metro Manila and 14 provinces on Monday amid continued heavy rainfall brought by the southwest monsoon (habagat).

According to Philippines News Agency, under Memorandum Circular No. 123, signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto by authority of the President, WFH arrangements will be implemented in government offices in the National Capital Region (NCR) and the provinces of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Zambales, Bataan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Benguet, Pangasinan, Abra, Tarlac, Pampanga, Oriental Mindoro, and Bulacan.

Unless otherwise directed by their respective local chief executives, public and private schools in the affected areas will implement alternative learning modes for all levels, the order stated. The circular was issued upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in anticipation of continued heavy rainfall.

Agencies involved in basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services are directed to continue operations. Local chief executives may also order localized suspension of classes or government work in other areas, while work suspension or alternative arrangements in private companies and offices remain at the discretion of their respective heads.
