Manila: Several parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) experienced floods due to heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon, but the water notably subsided in 15 to 30 minutes once the rains stopped, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reported on Saturday. According to Philippines News Agency, MMDA General Manager Nicolas Torre III highlighted in a Radyo Pilipinas interview that some areas encountered gutter-deep flooding, yet the water levels quickly decreased once the rain ceased. "May mga areas na nakakakita ng mga pagbaha na hanggang gutter-deep, pero nagsa-subside po kaagad kapag tumigil ang ulan," he noted. He advised the public to exercise patience when faced with flooded streets, suggesting that waiting for just 15 to 30 minutes can lead to the water subsiding. "Kaya ang isang ating gustong i-advise sa ating mga kababayan na kung may makita kayong pagbaha, puwedeng hintay ng konti, 15 to 30 minutes lang ay humuhupa na ang baha natin. Kaya huwag na lang pilitin lumusong," Torre added. The MMDA's latest update listed several areas where flooding was reported but remained passable. In Manila, gutter-deep floods were noted at Roxas Blvd. Pedro Gil Service Road, Roxas Blvd. US Embassy, and Taft Ave. - Quirino Ave. in Malate. In Parañaque City, Dr. A Santos Ave. - Canaynay Ave., Dr. A Santos Ave. NB - Parañaque National High School, and Dr A. Santos Ave. - KayTalices reported 8-inch deep waters. Meanwhile, Malabon City saw 4-inch deep flooding at Gov. Pascual Ave. (Sitio 6), which subsided by 4:40 p.m.
