Wind Signal Lifted as Mirasol Exits PAR; Nando Maintains Strength

Manila: No tropical cyclone wind signal is currently in effect as Tropical Depression (TD) Mirasol has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported in its 11 a.m. bulletin on Thursday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the southwest monsoon, locally known as "habagat," is expected to cause strong to gale-force gusts across several regions including La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Tarlac, Pampanga, Benguet, Mimaropa, Quezon, Bicol Region, and Western Visayas. Mariners of motorboats and similarly-sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures due to moderate seas along the eastern seaboard of mainland Cagayan, as well as the seaboards of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur, and the western seaboard of Pangasinan.

Mirasol is projected to move northwestward, with landfall anticipated over Southern China on Saturday, as per PAGASA's update. Meanwhile, TD Nando has maintained its strength with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph. It was located 1,335 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon as of 10 a.m.

PAGASA indicated that Nando is unlikely to affect local weather conditions in the next 48 hours. However, it is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon over the weekend, potentially resulting in heavy rains, as reported by the weather bureau.
