Zamboanga city: The City Health Office (CHO) has strengthened its anti-dengue campaign in the city's 98 barangays to contain the spread of dengue cases. CHO chief Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite strongly urged the public to strengthen dengue prevention in their respective communities.

According to Philippines News Agency, recent dengue case clusters were identified in 36 barangays, indicating prevalent transmission. Dr. Miravite stated that her office has recorded 1,184 dengue cases since January, which is 20 percent higher than the 989 cases logged during the same period in 2025. Additionally, 11 dengue-related deaths, mostly affecting children, have been reported since January.

The CHO has called upon all households, schools, workplaces, and barangays to bolster dengue prevention measures and adhere to the '5S' strategy. This strategy includes searching and destroying mosquito breeding sites, securing self-protection, seeking early consultation, supporting targeted fogging, and sustaining hydration. Dr. Miravite emphasized that preventing dengue is a shared responsibility and urged residents to participate actively in efforts to contain and eliminate the incidence of dengue.
