MANILA: Twenty-four road sections in Metro Manila have been closed and are not passable to all types of vehicles due to floods brought by continuous heavy rains from the Southwest Monsoon and Typhoon Carina. In an advisory, the Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) said that as of 8 a.m., the following road sections in Manila, Quezon City, Taguig, City, Makati City, San Juan City, and Mandaluyong City are flooded: Bluementritt Road corner P. Margal in Manila; P. Florentino, Tayuman corner Jose Abad Santos Avenue; España Blvd., M. dela Fuente to A.H. Lacson Ave; Taft Avenue, Pedro Gil Street (northbound or NB); Taft Avenue, UN Avenue (NB); T.M. Kalaw Avenue (westbound or WB); P. Quirino Avenue near Singalong Street (NB); P. Quirino Avenue Pedro Gil Street (NB); Taft Avenue (NB) near Arellano University. Also not passable to vehicles in Manila are: G. Araneta Ave. corner Maria Clara Street; Sto. Domingo Avenue corner Calamba Street; Maria Clara Street corner G. Araneta to Sto. Domingo Avenue; General Luis Street corner Ambrosia Street. In Quezon City, the roads that are flooded are: Quezon Ave. corner Victory Ave.; Quezon Ave. cor. Victory Ave. near Timog Ave.; V. Luna Road, in front of Mercury Drug store; E. Rodriguez Sr. Ave., infront of Delos Santos Hospital; and Mother Ignacia St., near Samar Ave. Other road sections that are not passable are: Boni Ave., (corner F. Ortigas) Boni Ave.; (Maysilo Circle) in Mandaluyong City; F. Bluementritt, San Juan City; C-5 Road, Taguig City (Diego Silang); EDSA (NB) before Orense, Makati City; Lagusnilad Underpass, Manila City. The DPWH said its maintenance crew has already been deployed around the region to conduct declogging on canals/waterways, road clearing operations, and to monitor the situation, and respond on the ground.
