3-MW Solar Project Energizes Camarines Sur Community

Manila: Tigaon, Camarines Sur: The Department of Energy (DOE), in collaboration with Trademaster Renewable One Inc., has successfully energized a 3-megawatt-peak (MWp) solar power project for the Camarines Sur Electric Cooperative (Casureco) IV. This development took place on Wednesday, marking a significant step in enhancing the province's power infrastructure.

According to Philippines News Agency, DOE Secretary Sharon Garin emphasized the critical role of renewable energy investments in reinforcing local power systems. The project aims to deliver reliable electricity and provide substantial benefits to the consumers and communities in the area. Secretary Garin expressed that this initiative aligns with the government's commitment to expanding renewable energy and ensuring sustainable and affordable electricity access across Camarines Sur.

Covering an area of 2.42 hectares, the ground-mounted solar facility is set to generate clean electricity sufficient to power approximately 1,900 households annually. This development is expected to improve the reliability of electricity for households, educational institutions, health centers, government facilities, and local businesses throughout the cooperative's franchise area.

The CASURECO IV Solar Power Project is a testament to the potential of renewable energy investments in strengthening local power reliability. It also ensures that host communities benefit directly from resource development. As the country continues to expand its clean energy portfolio, the DOE remains committed to projects that enhance energy security, support sustainable development, and provide Filipino consumers with cleaner, more reliable electricity.

In addition to providing reliable power, the project is designed to generate employment by prioritizing local hiring and procurement within host communities, ensuring shared economic benefits. By expanding indigenous and sustainable energy sources, the project reduces reliance on fuel imports, boosts the resilience of local power systems, and supports national goals of achieving 35 percent renewable energy by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040, thus benefiting Filipino consumers and communities.
