Authorities Urged to Probe Alleged Independence Day Attack Plan

Manila: Malaca±ang on Friday called on law enforcement agencies to act on reports about an alleged plan to storm the Palace grounds on June 12 as part of the pro-Duterte's alleged destabilization plot against President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and his administration.

According to Philippines News Agency, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro emphasized the responsibility of law enforcement agencies and investigative bodies to address these types of illegal activities. Castro's statement was issued following a social media post by columnist Ramon Tulfo, who claimed to have received reports about alleged plans by Vice President Sara Duterte's supporters to 'storm Malaca±ang' on Independence Day.

Tulfo's Facebook post mentioned intelligence reports received by the Philippine National Police regarding a planned attack by an unidentified religious sect. However, Castro stated that there is currently no confirmation of the alleged plan.

Castro pointed out that this is not the first time such destabilization narratives have emerged. She urged the public to stay vigilant amid circulating reports and cautioned against groups allegedly seeking to exploit political tensions. Castro warned of the 'forces of darkness' and noted that attempts to install a leader perceived as power-hungry have been ongoing, even before the 2028 elections.
