Dinagat islands: The provincial government of Dinagat Islands has successfully distributed over PHP1.5 million in medical aid to patients, as reported by officials on Monday. Governor Nilo Demerey Jr. highlighted the significance of their Remedy program, which plays a crucial role in providing support for hospitalization, dialysis, and funeral services across the province.

According to Philippines News Agency, the aid was allocated to patients at three hospitals located in Surigao City, with the Surigao Medical Center receiving the largest portion of the funds. Recipients have expressed their gratitude for the much-needed assistance. Beneficiary Imelda Mendoza shared, "The Remedy program helped me settle my laboratory fees amounting to more than PHP12,000 due to my kidney problem."

The program operates in collaboration with medical institutions in Surigao, Davao, Butuan, and Cebu, aiming to cater to patients who require specialized medical care. Governor Demerey emphasized that the initiative is about more than just numbers, stating, "It is about ensuring that no family faces illness, loss or hardship alone."

Governor Demerey further added that through providing medical aid, free funeral services, and transportation assistance, the provincial government is fostering a community where care and solidarity are integral to governance.
