DPWH Deploys Personnel to Clear Maharlika Highway in Maguindanao

Parang: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has deployed maintenance personnel to clear the damaged section of the Maharlika Highway in Parang, Maguindanao del Norte.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DPWH in Region 12 (Soccsksargen) announced through a social media post that the maintenance team will ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians. It was reported that a flash flood caused damage to layers of freshly-laid asphalt, which had not yet dried or was still in the curing period.

The DPWH assured that it will immediately resume full restoration works "under strict construction standards" once the weather clears, at no additional cost to the government. Meanwhile, the Aliog Bridge in Tabuk City, Kalinga has been reopened to two-way traffic. This development comes one month after DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon inspected the 60-year-old bridge and ordered its immediate repair.

Following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the DPWH deployed additional personnel and equipment to accelerate the construction of a more durable replacement bridge. This effort aims to ensure smoother and safer travel for motorists and to allow larger vehicles, such as trucks, to access local communities. The new bridge is expected to be completed this October.
